Password protect a PDF
Lock a PDF so that only people with the password can open it. Good for bank statements, payslips, ID scans and anything else you send by email. The file is encrypted on your device, and neither the file nor the password is sent anywhere.
How to do it
- Drop your PDF on the page, or press «Choose file».
- Type a password, then type it once more to confirm.
- Press «Add password».
- Press «Save», and give the password to the recipient separately.
Good to know
- Nobody can recover a forgotten password, including us. Keep it in a password manager, and keep your unlocked original somewhere safe.
- Do not put the password in the same email as the file. Send it another way, such as a text message or a call.
- A longer password protects better than a short clever one. A few random words are easy to say over the phone and hard to guess.
