Split scanned PDF pages in half
When a book is scanned open, two pages land on every sheet. This tool cuts each sheet down the middle and puts the halves in reading order, so you get a normal PDF with one page per page. It is easier to read on a phone or tablet and prints properly.
How to do it
- Drop your scanned PDF on the page, or press «Choose file».
- Choose the cut: «Down the middle (left | right)» or «Across (top / bottom)».
- Drag the red line on the big picture if the spine is not exactly in the middle.
- Press «Split spreads», then «Save».
Good to know
- Only wide sheets are cut by default, so a front cover that was scanned on its own stays whole.
- A dark shadow along the spine? Raise «Strip to drop at the cut» and a narrow band around the cut line is removed from both pages.
- For manga and other books read from right to left, turn on «Right page first (books read right to left)» so the pages come out in the correct order.
Questions
How do I split a scanned PDF into two pages?
Open the scan, keep «Down the middle (left | right)» and press «Split spreads». Each double-page sheet becomes two single pages, left page first, and the page count roughly doubles.
What if the book was not centered on the scanner?
Move the red cut line on the preview until it sits on the spine. The same cut position is then used for the sheets being split, so check a few pages before saving.
Does cutting scanned pages in half make them blurrier?
No. Each half is the same scan as before, shown as its own page, so the sharpness does not change. The original PDF is left as it is and you save a new file.
